April 19, 2026
You wouldn’t know it by my content lately, but I have been traveling a lot this year. I have been to Walt Disney World 3 times which is definitely a record for me this early in the year. I turned 50 on April 1st, and it has been the best gift to spend so much time in my happy place. I have been with my best friends and even spent a day solo. I wish I could say all my travel is the reason for my lack of writing, but I don’t think it is.
I have been having a lot of big feelings lately. I am at a difficult stage as a caregiver. Losing my Mom in December of 2024 has been really hard still, and at the end of last year my Dad moved into a long term care facility. Meanwhile, there is my son who is 21 and on the Autism Spectrum and needs lots of care. I am fortunate to have an incredibly helpful husband. It’s still a lot. I have been in a season of survival which hasn’t left me a lot of energy to do things I enjoy, like writing.
I have missed it though. I like the way it forces me to think about things and focus on details. I don’t consider myself much of a creative person and I didn’t even realize I needed this outlet. It seems ironic that the things that make me thrive are the first things to drop off when my bandwidth gets low.
This is my year of hustle though, and it is only April. There is still time for me to put myself out there and pick back up on this little passion project that brings me so much joy. Thank you for hanging with me on this journey. I still have lots to say about Disney and would love to be your Magical Vacation Planner. Stay tuned!
In case you missed it, I wrote about my Mom in Lasts, Traveling with Mom, and Happy Birthday Mom. Also, check out my travel from this year in January 2026 Trip Highlights and Flying Southwest.
